Crayons for grownups
These things are awesome! They feel like a very soft oil pastel, literally like writing with butter. The colors look great, especially the fluorescent ones. Also you can mark on basically anything, including fabric and wet surfaces. Just remember to rotate them every so often so you don't blunt the tip. Highly recommend.

I draw with these, alone, in conjunction with my pen and ink work, i can get a huge variety of marks out of them ranging from transparent like charcoal - they work well with smooth and rough paper. AND they DO NOT leave oil seepage marks in paper!
